Excitement in the House

My house was in an uproar and it all began last night. I noticed that Cukay was restless. She kept pacing and panting. She kept scratching at the floor by my side of the bed. She kept nestling against Jon. I worried that she was going to give birth soon so I said to myself that I will bring her to the hospital in the morning. I stayed up and read about whelping. I wanted to confirm what I knew - that she was exhibiting signs of whelping. I got the confirmation but figured she was going to give birth the next day.

At around 530am, Jon nudged me to tell me that Cukay was lying against him and wouldn't leave. I said just hold her because I think she's going to give birth soon. Suddenly, he held out his hand with some thick substance on it! I jumped up and saw that she was crowning! OMG!!! I quickly got dressed with the intention of rushing her to the hospital. Too late! The first baby popped out! What to do? I was panicky. I couldn't really see because I was panicking! I just tried to comfort her and remembered not to pop the sac until it was completely out. Never mind, I'll take her to the hospital during the pause in between babies. What pause??? Here comes another! OMG!!! Same process... wait... don't pop the sac... OMG!!! What do I do with the cord? Can I pull? I'm supposed to tie it with a dental floss... where is the floss? I couldn't remember! Call the hospital... ring ring ring... no answer! Everyone was awake by now and they all gaped. Shocked! Move, yaya! Everyone in the crib... and off we went to the hospital.

Whew! Doctor Alvarez was there and immediately got busy. He checked the babies and Cukay and prepared for the two that are yet to come out. I yelled I'll be back after I take a quick shower and he waved me away.

At 730am, Dr. Alvarez called to tell me that Cukay was not heaving and advised CS delivery for the rest of the brood. I quickly gave the green light and reminded him that she was to be spayed. All go for the babies and Cukay!

When I got there at a little past 8, the babies were out. Cukay was being stitched up. All the vets were in attendance. My baby girl was given the best care they could give. Wooohooo! Surprise! Change that to my baby GIRLS! All the babies are female! Wow! They all look like Chikoy. One has the exact same white band around her neck as Bawzer. ;p

I'm pleased they are all alive and kicking. They are beautiful. Too bad they are all female which means I cannot keep anyone or else my boys will mate with them. Incest! They are little angels and no one will be mine. :-/

So how are the boys treating the women in their family? They peer into the crib gingerly to check on the little ones. They patrol around it as if they know they are their helpless little sisters. For now, they are the macho men of the crib. ;p
